By this time Mike was working for Southdown Plant; employed as a Foreman, maintaining and repairing cranes. Moving to Bedfordshire from south London was a tremendous change for both Mike and Daphne, Mike absolutely loved the area. In fact, he often said that it was like being on holiday permanently! It was there that his two children, Beth and Ben, were born and he became a very proud father. Mike worked hard and long hours in order to give his family a good standard of living.
